Sick Solitude

FREE WRITING

I cry as you watch.
The air around me is cold.
I crave for comfort's warmth,
but our masks are too heavy to move.
I can see the panic and disgust in your eyes
As you step away
It stings and burns my eyes;
Am I just a positive now?
It's every man for himself now.

You can cry too, that's fine
But don't you notice the dangerous gleam in my eyes?
The glow of your angry voice, I choose...

A Legacy of Stories

FREE WRITING

There is a little of Alcott in me,
Of Burnett and Brontë.
A little of Austen too.

There are Greek children in me,
born of gods and goddesses;
Of the Sea and the Sky,
saying hi to the stars.

There is magic in me,
Though I have no wand,
And my letter never arrived.

There are dragons, and witches,
and all kinds of monsters
Roaming in my heart.
Kings and Queens,
Young and old, foreign and familiar
Ruling my soul.

the ground.
Unseen.
Negligible.
None picks them up.

So she swallows down her next verse
and holds it back,
Waiting
for the perfect opportunity to offer it up.
Hands trembling.
Chest tight.
Tears burning behind her eyes.
Will someone glimpse her this time?

Oh, how she craves to make the windows rattle!
To...

They fed you what they told you
you wanted,
and took what you needed.
Took it right under your nose,
but you never think to look for it in their pockets.
So you're oh, so grateful! for the chains tying you
to a fake father,
cause independence is the worst kind of slavery
when you're the only suspect.

Green dogs roam the streets,
wake up to another disaster.
Nothing new.
Just switch the channel, as you zip your wine.
