A World Remade

FREE WRITING

The buildings toppled,
Like blocks to a child.
And I stood there,
in the middle of it all.

I watched it crash,
I watched it burn.
But at the end,
My back was turned.

The world was dying,
Everyone knew it.
But no one started,
No one fixed it.

So I asked,
What could I do?
Then it suddenly came to me,
I must build it anew.

Like a broken sword,
That had gone through much.

When I saw him standing there,
I felt the world stop.
As if he was,
A picture perfect mirage.

He was beauty,
He was grace.
He was the kind of guy that,
Could make your heart race.

But it wasn’t just his looks,

Though he was shy,
And maybe a little awkward.
Whenever he stepped into a room,
My heartbeat shot skyward.

In the darkness of night,
We sat there quietly.
The unspoken words
Hung peacefully between us.

The messages we exchanged,
Nothing more than silence.
Better left unsaid,
Better left neglected.

Birdsong

FREE WRITING

On a cold winter day,
A lone bird sang a song.
In the midst of winter solstice,
Can only a bird sing

When the bears of the land sleep,
And the hunters sit by the flame,
The bird is outside,
Chirping away

The vipers on the ground,
And the wolves of the night,
Do not dare to leave their den,
And come outside.
