PROMPT: “Take Off Your Shoes, This is My House”

"In three words, I can sum up everything I've learned about life: it goes on."

すとん
と音がした
夜が来る瞬間音だ
そして 君を夢見た
久しぶりにだったんだなあ
あなたの笑顔、笑う、表情…
それが 恋しい
だから あなたも話したいんだかな

There was a thump.
The sound of the moment night fell.
And I dreamt of you.
It’s been a long time since I did that.
Your smile, your laugh, your expressions…
I miss them.
So I wonder if you want to talk to me too.

The Revival of A.

Alexander sat within the silence of the car, hands clammy with anxiety and eyes wild with despair. Dread had found a home in the boughs of his stomach, nestling there where it twisted and contorted into the monster known as terror which threatened to sink the façade of calm to which he had desperately clung. Outside the cab’s windows the sky raged war with the clouds, her thunderous rage echoing in the gaps of quiet, and it was then –...

Cleopatra.

FREE WRITING

The letters roll off the tongue/
in a frenzied longing/
under a painted sky/
where the malleability of our hearts/
screams Cleopatra.

Tangled in the blankets,/
eyes roaming the landscapes of skin,/
I’m swayed beneath the waves of/
your perilous little lies/
Cleopatra.

Fixed beneath the world/
is a throne of your truths,/
hidden away in the bellies of the beast,/
no man dares to entrench the tomb,/
but the letters that roll of my tongue/
gives me a key...

Reptilian angels go to Hell for holidays

FREE WRITING

angels are reptiles,/
cold-blooded/
skin sculpted to porcelain perfection/
and eyes hollow with the fullness/
of god's loving lies.

wafting in the shade/
where apples speckled a darkening/
sky of lilac hues and golden moonshine/

they sip on cups of wine/
red, crimson, tainted bloodied lips/
they recite hymns on glorious streams of wind/
that flutter as softly/
as butterfly wings.

below the hardened mirth/
of humanity's sinful girth/
the demons roam and romp/
with a slave as a master.

Goodbye night sky

FREE WRITING

night drearies beyond moonshine,
behind stars, on the cusp of an intergalactic city skyline,
and the headlights of a passing car
bounce off the cracked asphalt like sunrays.

knees scraped, palms bloody,
it was a nasty fall.
government conspiracies line my back pockets,
and in some long-forgotten jeep,
lies the rest of my anxieties,
shipped up the coast and toward the summer sun.

no birds are chirping, no crickets are singing,
is today Tuesday? or Wednesday? or Sunday?
time flies...
