i wanna tell her that i am mad excited for today but then my dad holds my arm and shakes his head-- “you cannot go.” why? is it because the streets hide their mottled grease spots and threaten to choke us on them? because the the pavement knows the weight of different statures and wants to dissolve acid against our skin? because i am girl, papa, weak?
