Just a girl with a passion for lasers, wizards, and Grimdark

I love Paul Laurence Dunbar's work and I'm always down to read Sherlock Holmes or an Agatha Christy novel. I strive to exude old wise wizard vibes.

cookies and cream flavored dreams

FREE WRITING

Cookies and cream
Flavored dreams
Decay slowly
Over time

I once dreamt of dazzling lakes of chocolate
Trees of jelly beans
And clouds of fluffy cotton candy

When I return to those dreams now
I realized the chocolate lake was filled with sticky oil
That the jelly bean trees were decorated with grenades
And those clouds of cotton candy were sickly sweet clouds smog polluting the sky

My heart used to soar when the taste of something sweet hit my...

I don't want to see the end

FREE WRITING

I don’t want to see the Earth die
Slowly, but surely
Withering and choked with dust

I don’t want to see our solar system consumed
By the very thing that gave us light,
That we looked to for hope

I don’t want to see our galaxy collide with another
And rip itself in half
In a deadly dance of stars

I don’t want to see our little corner of space
Slowly blink out of existence
As everything that gave it...

when the world stops turning

FREE WRITING

When the world stops turning
And every moment of every day feels like an eternity
Life passes you by in the blink of an eye

You hear without hearing
You speak without speaking
You live without living

You don’t know who you are anymore
And you don’t know how to find out
Were you ever really someone to begin with?

Your thoughts spiral
Deeper

Sitting Alone at the Lunch Table

PROMPT: Poetry and Spoken Word Competition: 2021

Sitting alone at the lunch table
Watching, waiting, hoping against hope
That someone would notice me

Sitting alone at the lunch table
Back hunched and eyes downcast
I eat my cheese sandwich and try not to let the tears escape
While a crushing weight presses down on my heart

Sitting alone at the lunch table
The pitying stares of the teachers and principal making my skin crawl
My chest is tight and I sink even further into myself
Trying my...

The Unexpected Afterlife

FREE WRITING

Today was the day Herbert Haneley was going to die. Now, most people would have been apprehensive about this fact, but Herbert had been looking forward to this day ever since Georgina died. He often thought about seeing her again in a glorious afterlife, the two of them young once again and enjoying the sun on some celestial beach. Yes, Herbert was ready to die.
All day he prepared himself, carefully pressing the pieces of the one suit he owned,...
