Dreams

PROMPT: Black Literature Matters

The dreams I dream at night is my only hope.
My dream's are like star's in the sky looking through a telescope.
waking up in the morning as they disappear.
Wishing away for them to still be here.
That thriving feeling that pours in my heart leaving scars.
Waking up every day following my goals.
Dreaming at night watching them unfold.
I choose the quote reality is wrong and Dreams are for real because I feel like the world is...

Summer In The South

FREE WRITING

Every summer momma sends us to the south.
Hot summer breeze you can hear the wind chimes clingly in the wind.
Playing in our white summer dresses in the corn fields and blowing on dandy lions
making wishes.
Listening to grandpa’s old fool tale story’s while crunching on watermelon.
At 6:00pm the sun starts to come down grandma holler it's time to come in now.
Taking cold temperature baths as the pipe's creek while grandma brushes my hair.
Bedtime takes...

Every morning waking up to grandma's cooking bring joy to my soul.
Every holiday standing around in a circle hold hands giving thanks.
Mixing cake batter or shelling peas while the corn is beginning to be picked.
The sweet smell of potato pie warms my soul.
Cruching into those sweet barbecue Ray's ribs.
Soul Food is My culture My Life.

Robotic

Stuck into a phone.
Focused on the latest trends.

Man what has this world come to.

We always have to be controlled or told what or when to do.
All along we already know the answer.
Were just afraid to step up.
Missing out on the beautiful gifts mother nature has transformed for us.

As I look in the mirror I see a glow.
A beautiful smile of wonder with eyes that can pass anything.

Standing in front of a crowd with insecurities and all.
