Hope is Tomorrow

PROMPT: Poetry and Spoken Word Competition 2020

Bright as the morning sun ray
Fresh after the moonlight.
Glowing with dew that reflects the rays,
The rays that flicker
Flicker with all the prospects and hope

Gold dust cascades you
Shining down, your spotlight for the day,
From up above
Dancing around you with all the delicacy of porcelain, but with the strength radiated from that of a footstep in its sure direction.
Wake to the rays, beneath them, you step
Forward in your direction.

The Monsters

FREE WRITING

The monsters

I wash the day off me slowly,

Every night I ask the monster not to scream and yell,
But she just says no, that the argument is dead.
The monster didn’t hear me clearly,
For what I really said
I don’t want to hear my mum screaming -
Hear the monsters in my head.

Work With The World

FREE WRITING

The sun rays fill my lungs
And the thunderstorms make my tears.
The birds sing my songs
And the humans attack me through the years

The humans installed an adjuster -
Intensified the rays!
My lungs breath is heavier
My tears now flood the bays

The species drop down.
And the birds barely sing
But the humans are still around -
I do want them here, that’s the thing

But if they don’t let me breathe
I will fade away.  ...

Goodbye

FREE WRITING

No longer a desire to capture the moment
This moment being too unbearable to survive.
So I have to let my mind disintegrate -
A time my memories with you are more alive

Applauding my mere paint of a swirl,
Cheering the cousins at the school race,
And smiling proudly at Summer Queen,
Your love for me circling from outer space

And yet here I am.
Your hands cold
A lump in my throat.
The hardness of goodbyes - never...
