Ireland

I'm an Irish teenager and aspiring writer. I have a hunger for learning and I'm curious about everything. I'm always reading a book or trying new things. I think education is the most important thing in the world and my biggest inspiration is Malala

The Fish That Swims

FREE WRITING

A fish swims
Through rainbows of blue
Slants of white and pools of navy
Aquamarine shimmers dance through
The bubbles he leaves dismissively behind.

His little fins of fluorescent yellow
Push and push through the vast ocean
He does not know what would happen
Should he stop to rest his tiny bones
He just knows he must keep swimmng, unsure of why.

The rays and the puffers regard him
Lazy contentment in their eyes as they gaze
At the splashes...

Lyrics:

An island never cries
All the ships have sailed
And the wind prevails

The sky is far too wide
Like a nothingless void
And it swallows my voice

Calypso has filled my bones
Don't leave me here alone

The god of war sat to dinner again
And ate the fury in his head
What does he know in the end?

A portal to a world
I can never touch
But it makes me feel like
Everything is better...

"The Help" by Katherine Stockett

PROMPT: Book Review Competition 2021

“I always order the banned books from a black market dealer in California, figuring if the State of Mississippi banned them, they must be good.” Well, Mississippi would want to ban this book quick and fast because boy, is it spectacular. "The Help" by Katherine Stockett is essentially a story about the power of stories.

Set in the brutally harsh world of Jackson, Mississippi in the early ‘60s, we get to know Minny and Aibileen, two black house maids and...
