Hi! I'm sixteen and I'm from England. I've loved words for as long as I can remember, and I've read a lot of books. I write like I read - anything and everything :)

The Home Within Myself

PROMPT: Why I Write

Words are my salvation.
I write for the vast skies within me,
the bleeding stars
in the shadows in my eyes
that fiercely refuse to burn out,
all the words I should have said.
They demand to be seen, to be heard
as they explode in light shows too beautiful
to symbolise destruction;
fireworks, supernovae, aurora borealis
distant, glowing horizons just seconds away
from caving in.
All those stars, swimming in tears,
floating like little boats
which will not...

To Be a Woman

PROMPT: Historical Fiction Competition 2020

Women’s Sunday, 21st June 1908

On the morning of the rally, I woke up believing that there was nothing I could do but accept my limited, fragile rights. I didn’t think, then, that to be a woman was to be an activist. I didn’t think that to be a woman was to be a fighter.

The Falling Stars

FREE WRITING

On the horizon,
a waterfall of stardust
cascades into the dark
as meteorites
slice silver streaks
into the seamless
satin sky.

My eyes watch
in wonder, constellations
reflected in my irises.
My hands reach up
to catch
the falling stars.

I Will Remember the Words

FREE WRITING

I will remember the words
until my soul is heavy
and stained by things I have
not yet seen,
and the skies have changed.

I will remember the words
and collect them like shells
and decorate sandcastles
with their iridescent ridges,
and use them to frame windows
which let the light in.
I will stud the drawbridge
with small pearls of
poetry.

People will ask me why
I fill the empty cavities of my soul
with words,
why I breathe...
