bedroom walls

FREE WRITING

some days i just sit in my room
and mimic the stillness of it,
realizing these walls have experienced little change
while i have shapeshifted into hundreds of people these past nine years

-thank you to the inanimate objects that held me together when i felt like falling apart

with the color blue

"i've known it for so long"
"it's all i have, and all i know"
"everything i have and am is blue"
"how can i just leave with all our history?"

but alas,
i still feel trapped
i feel that i must love blue
because i have never not...

blue

FREE WRITING

i've always said my favorite color was blue
and i've always liked all kinds of blue
but i realize now, that i've only said this
because all the other girls liked pink

and why should i conform
to the kindergarten status quo
that says boys like blue and girls like pink,
when i could stand out and be different?

so now i'm confused
do i really like blue?
or do i still hold onto that hunger
for attention now that...
