The Historian

United States

I am a young girl who loves history and writing about it! My favorite time periods include the 1910s, Civil War era, Colonial times, Medieval Ages, and Ancient Rome. You'll find me cooking old Viking recipes and baking Pennsylvania Dutch AP cake.

Expect to find tales of mysterious Egyptian pyramids, American clipper ships caught in great storms, French trenches clouded in deathly mustard gas, Roman gladiators fighting for their lives, Mongol hordes invading China, British queens raising empires, Indian emperors building beautiful tombs, Incan farmers fleeing the invading Spaniards, Maori sailors discovering turquoise waters, Australian outlaws avoiding death sentences, Jewish children fleeing the terrors of Nazi Germany, prisoners trying not to freeze in the Russian gulags, and many more adventurous, fascinating, and sometimes tragic times in history.

"What if he hates me?" Maka asked, dark eyes wide and anxious as Ilalilka braided her long chestnut curls.
"Nonsense, little sister," Kiluš-Hepa promised, trying to smile reassuringly at her younger sister. "What man would not find you the most wonderful wife in the world? You are sweet and affectionate. Pharaoh will adore you."

The youth walked like one invisible in the midst of the busy marketplace. His robe drawn close around his straight shoulders, he watched with jaded eyes the people laughing and chattering, the dancing girls moving with supple limbs to the flutes of their masters, and the aggressive vendors hawking their wares. For one so young, he should not have borne the look of an ancient man, but he did, and the people edged away from him because of...

Manwas an overstatement, he decided, as the almost-quaking scribe came down to...

"You've got to be the worst potter in all of Jiangzhai," An snorted, shaking her head in amusement at her younger sister's crooked basin. "Might as well crush that back into another lump of clay; Mother wouldn't allow us to be seen with such work in the house."
Mei groaned, slamming the clay on the ground in discouragement. This was her third attempt at making a water basin for her grandmother, who was turning seventy in...
