The Little baby bump

PROMPT: Creative Nonfiction Competition 2020

My throat- etching for the taste of lukewarm water, or at least just water- drinkable, potable, any kind. My head- searching and searching through the pile of scattered files, down the memory lane, looking out for that one thought that has not been visited, that one hope of saving me from boredom- boredom of imagining the same scenario again and again and again. And my all too slender body- longing for an amiable outfit, a treat to my eyes when...

Three gunshots land!

FREE WRITING

She accustomed herself to nights
without cuddles.
Her hands felt the weight
of the guns and the bundles.
Her shoulders weighed down
with the hopes that filled her mind.
Her eyes lingered a moment further
at the shadow appearing beside.
She suffered hallucinations,
of a foggy presence.
A gaping hole midst her
and a guardian essence.
She kept the plates for two
through there could be three (on holidays).
She carried the rough quilt
with sand and sweat of a...

FREE WRITING

I read a book at 4:00 am and now can't stop thinking about it.

Khaled Hosseini's masterpiece, The Thousand Splendid Suns had an essence in it that caught me off-guard. Before I knew it, I could feel tears rolling down my cheeks as I read, contemplating each word as my brother snores beside me.
I even pondered over the thought of leaving the book halfway and going to sleep at 2:00 am but could not bring myself to it. And...

The sapphire iris blinks
the long blonde lashes meet
against the milky white skin
the hair made up into blonde curls
her frock with frills
clearly marking the standards
Her bottom against the cold, hard floor of the
little plastic box
Her lips pink and her rosy cheeks
with the proud smile stamped against.

"I pick her!"

Those words accustomed to her ears
come as no surprise
and she looks beyond and below
over the separating line
and give yet...

Strength in Unity (Flashback- My Second Poem!!) FOOTNOTES! OK, this is um....

FREE WRITING

A string of pearls laden,
Stays bonded
They are united,
Until broken

The string be thy peace
And not a crease,
Be there as it might
Lead to a fight

A deadly feud,
Many are sued,
Lives are gone
Why now mourn ??

Do not let a scissor
Cut the string of peace
Do not let a trigger
Bring a crease

Thy be the pearl
Peace the string,
And the necklace laid out,
On the earth all green.
