I love to write, especially about the darker parts of life. Few people want to face the reality of what lays beyond the fantasy of writing. But I differ from these cowards of realism. I do not come to escape. I come to explore.

For My Dear Ol' Dad

FREE WRITING

I've got a lot of things to say to you,
Yes, to you, my dear father.
So come,
Sit down,
And listen to your daughter.

You're absolutely bonkers!
You're nutty,
And you're wacky!
And all of that is a good thing,
Take it from me, my dear Daddy.

You've made changes to your life
Many changes, indeed.
But those were the changes
I couldn't quite see,
Until I grew up just a little more,
And I wasn't just a baby.

Eleven Somehows

PROMPT: Farsick

Somehow, I miss the ocean waters that go farther than any man or machine can reach. Somehow, I crave the blackness that only creatures never seen by man can call home. Somehow, though I've never had the pleasure of seeing that abyss of wandering mysteries, I find myself missing the unknown of what is there.
Somehow, I discover myself pleading to see where the universe settles. Somehow, I find myself gazing up at her stars and...

To My Dear, Loving Mother

FREE WRITING

To my dear mother,
A woman somehow still sane.
I want to tell you all the things
Lingering in my brain.
We have a bond, me and you.
An unbreakable one at that.
Everyone knows this to be true,
That's a simple fact.
You're kind and sweet and strong and brave,
Everything I strive for.
When I feel stuck in a daze
You're there to unlock the door.
You go to fight for all my battles
And you come home...

PROMPT: Novel Writing Competition 2019

Tall trees surrounded me, a black canopy blocking out all light from entering my hiding place. A beast with twenty legs littered in golden spikes growled from outside the mass of trees hiding me away, loyally remaining in their place. I was crouched down, my pockets filled with heavy treasures the beast was guarding. A vicious growl sounded - a warning - encouraging me to come out of my hiding amongst the trees. I watched her twenty legs...

I Write For Me

PROMPT: Why I Write

I write to feel human,
To feel peaceful,
And whole.
I write to feel human,
When I've gone numb,
And bruised.
I write to feel human,
Because most days,
I don't.

I write to feel the sun,
To feel warm,
And complete.
I write to feel the sun,
When my energy's gone,
And deplete.

I write to feel human.
I write to feel the sun.
I write to feel something
Because I can't get enough.

PROMPT: Human Connections Essay Competition 2019

Broken. That's the most valid way I could think to describe most of my relationships with anyone. Every single one of my ties with anyone is broken in some sort of way, smashed to pieces with a hammer then desperately forced back together in a painful amalgamation of what once was. There are shards to tip-toe around and cracks to leap over. Raging winds shove me back the farther I try to expand the relationship. But every time I pass...

Welcome to My Elementry (#Experience)

Dirt felt course against my tongue as I was shoved into the dirt on the playground. Have you ever noticed that? When you breath in the dust kicked up by running feet that it stings and scratches your throat? The red dirt below me stained my white T-shirt as a boot was pressed against my lower back. My nails dug into the dry dirt as I felt the full weight of one of my many tormentors on my...
