It started out just like any other day.
That morning, I woke up at 5:00 am. I took a shower, put on my normal attire of jeans and a sweatshirt. I brushed my hair and teeth and caught the bus. I sat on the fourth row with my friend Jillian. She, as normal, was chatting so fast I didn't even have to think about what she was saying. It was only when she mentioned Ruth Prince that I gave pause...

Escapee: Chapter One

It started out just like any other day.
That morning, I woke up at 5:00 am. I took a shower, put on my normal attire of jeans and a sweatshirt. I brushed my hair and teeth and caught the bus. I sat on the fourth row with my friend Jillian. She, as normal, was chatting so fast I didn't even have to think about what she was saying. It was only when she mentioned Ruth Prince that I gave pause and tuned in.
"Did you hear about what happened to Ruth?" she asked.
"Ruth Prince?" I said. "No, I haven't."
Now, if you didn't know who Ruth Prince was, you had to be both blind and deaf in my grade. A couple years ago, she had actually been a great person to hang around. She had it all: looks, popularity, talent at everything she tried. We had actually been good friends back then.
Then, one day, out of the blue,...

Shifting Crowns

I stalked through the palace, dagger in hand. Dwarven made. The ruby-studded handle shimmered in the moonlight, giving me deja vu. Just two years ago, a very different Caroline Bushcher had roamed these halls. That Caroline had been here for the same purpose. That Caroline had even been carrying the same blade. But that Caroline was here for different cause. Killing the royalty then had been easy. I had resented him. Enough to kill with no remorse, enough to feel the anger of revenge. Enough to feel the fright that struck my soul when I approached his soon-to-be deathbed.

But I couldn't think about that now. He was dead, and not a threat to me anymore. I was in no danger from his devilish eyes. I shuddered, and continued sneaking along the hallway. Now was no time for my thoughts to turn to that fateful night, but they did anyway.

At the time, King Donovan had been in his prime. Fame...

The Cave Under the Mount

The grotto was enormous, filled with the smell of mold and dust. Humid air dampened the mood of the moment, causing Laila's skin to feverishly sweat. Gasping in awe, she stepped into the cavern with her torch. The rest of the group filed in after her, fanning out and staring at the wonders surrounding them. Treasures glinted in the torchlight, revealing gems and jewels worth more than the kingdom of Wellemeade.  They had done it. At long last, Laila Howard and her fellow adventurers had found the fabled Cave Under the Mount.

Unity

Conflict. Intruders.
    Then, harmony.
Opposites collide
    And are still separated.
Isolation is created,
Then a new world is opened.
Unity.
