Tears are like lava - they are liquid and they are hot. They blaze the underside of my eyelids and the inside of my eyes as they creep out, and they scorch their ways down my skin, dipping into the hollow between my cheekbone and upper jaw as quickly as a couple of seconds after I blink. The heat of accompanying sham burns the insides of my cheeks, and the lava-like tears burn the outside of it. My skin feels...

I'm Alive

Breathe in. Breathe out.

I'm alive, I'm alive, I'm alive.

It's 11.46 pm on a school night and your heart is racing.

It's not regular, not like the pounding of thirty pairs of feet as you run on the track with your classmates for your physical test.

It's erratic, like fingers on a keyboard when you're not entirely sure what's coming out of your fingertips but words are still flowing out of them nonetheless, even when you have to take a...

PROMPT: YOU in threes

Three quirks or idiosyncrasies.
  1. Sometimes, I can almost feel these things on my back, like feathered wings, and sometimes when I miss a step, there's a split second in which it's like I've taken a proper step like the air was solid. Sometimes when the wind blows, I feel like I could go with it.
  2. I am quiet, and don't express my opinions. On the other hand, all the friends I've made over the years are the direct opposite of...

  1. Just because someone's been held back a year at school, doesn't make them bad at studies.
  2. Having games that are male/female dominated acts as a divide.
  3. Maths and Sciences don't have to be male-dominated.
  4. Playing chess at a competitive level doesn't make someone manipulative outside of the board.
  5. Even the most elegant of dancers can trip up the stairs.
  6. Found family over blood family.
  7. There's a line between friends and acquaintances.
  8. Online friendships can be as strong as real-life ones.

PROMPT: A Fictional Landscape

The beach is empty.

The (probably) once white dunes almost seem silver, greyed with dust or ash and shining with the glint of glass. Dust, ash, sand and glass are indistinguishable from each other - trying to split them would likely end in infected wounds.

The waves, too, are greyed and stormy. Maybe from dust, maybe from ash, but in this war-torn universe, she doesn't know. Her waves aren't like they used to be, but at least they're still blue-ish.

I personally feel that it would have been nice if a wider range of vocabulary was used, but that could be just me.

She's a bit of an asshole, but I'll admit it, I've always been one too. (It's always been easier to be cruel than to be nice.)

We were twelve, maybe going thirteen, when we met. I was bull-headed and she was a battering ram and we worked together about as well as fire and water did. She was older than me, but I was taller than her by maybe 2 inches or so. (1 inch in exchange for 1 month.)...

Bloodlust in your eyes, fire in my hands. I don't recognise you anymore.

I could fight you.

You scoff, calling my bluff easily. My fire flickers weakly. You're right.

You don't have to do this, just tell us what you want!

(But you wouldn't understand, Cilly.)

My flames fail me. Your eyes shine with cruel amusement, although there's something sadder, something I missed.

Cap orders us to attack you non-mages. We're bloodthirsty and his words sound heavenly.

...I can't...
