In Hindsight

In hindsight, that photo was a bitter notice board. At the time, it was a gift.

"Look at what you have to live for.". Don't tell me what I have to live for.

I know exactly what I had. I know exactly what I have, and I must have lost something on the way because it's smaller but heavier. My blessings have compacted themselves into a neutron star, a weight no human can hold, though guilt has the same strain....

I love that you used 'Lily of the Nile' to represent love rather than saying it blatantly and I think that it's a beautiful piece of poetry- don't be too hard on yourself! Overall it's really lovely :) Fantastic job

Be Honest

PROMPT: Now to Then

Don't tell me to swear less.
"You're a nice girl," you said. "You could talk more like one."
"No, thanks." I replied.
"He's a nice guy."
And I nodded, because I thought so too.

I lost your name in the mist but I knew, when I saw you, that you meant something to me.

Sunset Season

PROMPT: Arctic Dreams

The sun reaches down to kiss the horizon with sparks that light the sky on fire, alight against the mirroring lakes. Birds people-watch from balconies, swaying flowers as they fly away from sun-weathered whispers. The mountains hum warmly- the town sighs as the night lights flicker on.
