Human Cartography

You unfurled like a map,
To show the sprawling vastness of your inner world;
Every thought clustered together in an ocean,
Every interest was a landmark,
Every joke was a monument,
Every love close to the equator,
Where they could grow in the warmth of your smile.

And in the corners of your mind,
Far from your heart,
You cautiously drew up an Atlantis,
buried in a heavy abyss.
An empire of all you had wished to forget,

I love that you used 'Lily of the Nile' to represent love rather than saying it blatantly and I think that it's a beautiful piece of poetry- don't be too hard on yourself! Overall it's really lovely :) Fantastic job

Be Honest

PROMPT: Now to Then

"No, thanks." I replied.
"He's a nice guy."
And I nodded, because I thought so too.

Sunset Season

PROMPT: Arctic Dreams

The sun reaches down to kiss the horizon with sparks that light the sky on fire, alight against the mirroring lakes. Birds people-watch from balconies, swaying flowers as they fly away from sun-weathered whispers. The mountains hum warmly- the town sighs as the night lights flicker on.
