My Mother Tongue

FREE WRITING

I have twisted my tongue three times,
For your ears not to toil for my words.
And with every contortion,
My tongue tried to remember
How it was
Before it was forced to amend

But a tongue is not built of elastic
Once distorted it will never restore
So I’ll eat your fish n chips
And wait
For when my tongue
Will fracture again

Pursuing

FREE WRITING

“Oh what a pity it is”,
 though the firefly,
“that the pursuit of beauty
Will invariably lead to our demise”,
as he remembered
how the rising sun
Had looked
 Reflecting on the dew drops
of the spiderweb
