Contorted

FREE WRITING

Tonight, my world is contorted
Disfigured, deformed and out of shape
Things around me turned to lethal weapons
Dressing gown belts and extra long handbag straps turned to noose's
High drops and tall buildings are an escape
Fast moving trains and cars are a portal to another world
Razors are a peaceful, quiet exit
Tonight, my world is contorted
But I will ignore it
And I will wake tomorrow morning
And I will feel better

Depression

FREE WRITING

Deep inside, I feel locked away
Everyday, the distance gets bigger, weight heavier
People are there, but they're not
Reality is a distant muffled blur, a dot
Eyes are clouded over, like patterned glass
Storms rage on endlessly within, never do they pass
Sadness, then nothing, is filling me up and spilling out over my body
Inside, part of me has gone away
Outside, I am silent, still
Now I know, this battle will always be uphill

Weight

PROMPT: In Motion

The wind tugs and pulls at my body.
Hair flying aimlessly in a mess of tangles behind me.
My dress is lifted by the wind and the cool air washes over my thighs.
The street lights race past me, like horses out of a start gate.
The night sky pours its peace into my heart, helping me out of this world almost breaking the ties.
Reality, for a moment, disappears into a blur, everything is lifted and I am free...

Dream I had last night

FREE WRITING

I was stood in a dark cold room with three other people. It felt like I knew them, but I never saw their faces. We were shouting at each other saying that one after the other we had to look at something. I didn’t know what it was, but my stomach formed a sickening knot, and I could feel my body tense. “She can’t be seen by you if you close your eyes or cover your face” one of the...

January

PROMPT: “In January”

The ground is frozen
The droplets shimmering like glitter in the warm Amber glow of the morning sun
As it climbs higher the white ice glitter gives way to the brilliant green grass and the chocolate bark of trees
The cars turn back to painted metal and no longer resemble Christmas trees
Blue January
Winter creeping, crawling, while nature waits to turn to spring
My breath turns to vapour in front of me
Like my own small stratus clouds
New...

Flying

PROMPT: WILD

Power beneath me
Muscle
I sit deep into the soft leather
Nudge sends us surging forwards
Like the release of a slingshot
Steering towards the fence
Hooves hitting the ground
Like a racing heartbeat
For a minute we are flying
Then we hit the ground running

Visiting Auschwitz

FREE WRITING

It was a feeling like no other
Like being hit in the chest with a wall
Feeling empty and numb
This is the place where thousands of people died
The ominous grey, concrete walls like a prison
Shock wave of emotion then nothing
Nothing, an impossibly dark feeling
Sinking black hole through my chest

Again

PROMPT: My December Competition 2017

To me, December is setting up Christmas trees like they're a precious work of art, each decoration placed with sharp eyed precision. The lights dancing in the dark, casting a warm glow over the living room.
Its hot chocolates and salted caramel everything. The continuous coffee dates, trying and testing the new flavours. It's walks through parks with the leaves crunching under our feet, the only thing keeping us warm is the take away coffee cup. The heat seeping through...

Then I die

I am so much
A storm
A hurricane
A blizzard
A bolt of lightning
A wildfire
I burn brightly
And then die
