I am 19, living in the U.S. and working on an English degree of some sort. I haven't been active on here in forever so here I am, back and better than ever.

Message from Writer

Give me tips on anything that I publish, no bull, give it to me straight and tell me when something is bad. I appreciate comments on my writing and I understand that criticism is generally constructive, especially on here. I want to be told the truth, even if it's not particularly good because at the end of the day it will make me into a better writer than I was before.

I Create

PROMPT: Why I Write

I write because I want the world to hear the stories buzzing in my head. I write so that i may scrawl my demons onto a page instead of allowing them to scar my mind. I write to keep my experiences from being forgotten. I write in order to build myself into a better version of myself. I write because I can't stand the silence of an empty page. I write as an act of protest against those who would...

When You Fell In Love

PROMPT: Poetry Writing Competition 2015

You fell in love.
You fell fast and hard.
I could never really tell you about
myself in the present,
because we were two kids united
in our hatred of our pasts.

I couldn't tell you why I really left,
because you lashed yourself to me
in such a way that,
Had I told you the truth,
the ropes holding together your sanity,
Would have been burned to dust.

I looked at you,
at your love,
and I saw somebody.  ...

Morning

PROMPT: Your World in Three Senses

Touch

I wake up under the warmth and fuzzy softness of a blanket that feels like fur. I refuse to open my eyes and lay in the warmth for ages as my mind drags itself from the haze of sleep. My fingers feel rough on my face and as I yawn my palms press against my cheeks and eyes brow and end with my fingertips in my hair. My hair is thick and smooth, and I can feel the grease...

Selfies

PROMPT: Selfie-Reflection Competition 2015

People are beautiful. In life everybody tends to ignore this. People forget to look at other people and see just how amazing and wonderful they are. When people are constantly bombarded with images that remind them they are not beautiful, it is incredibly difficult to look at ones body in a positive light. Selfies are not a cry for attention, they are a demonstration that people are beautiful in a world where nobody feels beautiful.

People say that because this...

PROMPT: Lunar Phrases

The moon is the vast emptiness that you feel when you're sitting all alone on a steep roof.

The moon

Hangs itself gloriously on the neck of night, a pulsing opal in the darkness.

Moon never gives herself to anybody, she drapes herself across the sky for all to see

She is radiant in the darkness that surrounds her.

Thoughts On Love: A poem to that One Boy

PROMPT: Poetry and Spoken Word Competition 2017

The thing with love is that it's not going to be forever.
I know that this next year might just be the best year of my life, and I just might fall in love with a really nice boy with blond hair and blue eyes who’s shoulders are peppered with freckles from days in the sun. I just might.

But at the end of this year, at the end of next summer, I am going to leave.
I am going...

Courage

PROMPT: Science Fiction Competition 2018

She sat at the peak of the hill, her head held high as she gazed at the rising sun. The sky was turned to flame and the sea became the color of wine with the reflection of it. She thought of home. The brightly painted houses, the lush green mountains, everything that had made her small town her home. She could feel a tinge in her chest as these thoughts crossed her mind, grief for something that was, something that...
