"We accept the love we think we deserve." -Perks of Being a Wallflower

Message from Writer

It's taken a bit of time to discover what I wanted to say in my writing and I've discovered that each of my pieces holds a different part of me and speaks a different story. So maybe I'm not a hero in my writing, maybe there is no hero, but there will always be truth in my words. I've found that the only way I can truly say what I want to is by writing because speaking just isn't the same. It's different. You see, when I speak, I lose my words and I falter, but with my hands dancing on my computer keys, I can give an explanation to the emotions I feel. I can give them meaning instead of leaving them as misunderstood signals. Writing is my language.

He Shouldn't Have Written That Letter

FREE WRITING

He wrote a letter.
He wrote a letter about how you never know what you have until it's gone.
He wrote a letter that he didn't know the contents of.
Especially when he said, "I love you."
He wrote a letter.

I wrote a story in stars while screaming my own.
I yelled to the sky and the clouds wrapped around me, their comfort going straight through.
I told the moon how unfair it was.
I cried to the velvet...

I Really Don't Know

FREE WRITING

This is the first time I have told this story.
As most people know, the first telling of a story is one of the most important; it details the truth, how it came from the teller and not the listeners. I have mulled this idea over, tossed it from hand to hand, never letting it sit still for too long. I have locked it away and only brought it back out during rainy days; it has been eras, minutes, moments...

A Crack In the Foundation

PROMPT: Love After Love

a letter to the girl i was
there was never a home within this body for you
you were an outsider
lost to the idea that you would never belong
not even to yourself
i am sorry
i never held a funeral for you
when you went away
when you became someone new
i suppose i wanted you to go
there was never any room
for a girl
who was afraid of herself
who didn't understand the infinite power
she...

The First Time I Saw Him Should've Been the Last Time #kickoff

the first time that i saw him
we were young
young enough to believe
forever could last a long time
he was just a boy
and i was not in love with him
this is not Romeo and Juliet
this is the loss of someone who was supposed to stay
as i did love him
but my heart was much to large
and his was much too small
the first time that he made me cry
he laughed
when we...
