PROMPT: Returning

Just like blood doesn’t make a family, a house is not a home. Mine is not here anymore. I’ll be okay though, just have to get through. That's what I tell myself every single time I come home for the holidays.

I don't feel like I belong here anymore.  I accepted that fact without understanding what it meant. I'm listening to music in my old room, the pale lavender walls are illuminated by the candor of cold white fairy lights.   I...

PROMPT: Fantasy Writing Competition 2019

Every nightmare starts the same. Vivid imagery has been flashing before my eyes for months now. I have lived this time and time again, it the lines between what feels like your twisted, dark  fantasy and my reality are blurred. I’m the main character nightmare is mine, but the forest is your territory.

A glittering moon hides between tall willow trees. I’m somewhere, lost in the dark, a thick veil of uncertainty covering my chocolate brown eyes.I hear you howling...

Success and Matters of Self Respect

PROMPT: Self-Respect

Self-worth is too vague of a concept to contain one definition. Though diverse, it is extremely beautiful, for it enables us to see the positive aspects of life, those hidden gems in the underground of our own selves. Tis' a game of highs and lows, you lower to the ground, sometimes you may surface with a brute, unpolished diamond ( the high ), other times you may come out empty handed, despite your efforts, with nothing but a thick coat...

PROMPT: Love in Words

I miss you, I really do. But I think stepping back is the only thing I can do right now. I don’t know if you’d even notice, not that you don’t care, it’s just the wrong time and place. You got other things on your plate and I’m complicating everything. Thank you for all you’ve done, although I’m not sure you know what it all meant to me. It was nice to have a little bit of hope again.

You...

Panic

FREE WRITING

I’m dreaming. Swimming through the clouds one moment, I find myself in the midst of a storm, in the blink of an eye. In the distance  I can see an iron cage floating. It is too far away from my reach. That cage holds, no, suffocates my heart. It once used to be free.

I choke up, as the walls get narrower and narrower. The squeezing sensation is overwhelming. The pain resonates within my chest.  Shaky lines appear underneath...

The human psyche is a complicated thing to understand. It's ever so unpredictable. It shows great strength, resilience even, when faced with the most complicated situations. However, as lovely and complex as it is, sometimes, our own mind can be our greatest enemy.  Humans don't always necessarily crave what's nice and simple, easy.

We don't settle. We pave our way with hot coals. We complicate our existence. And for what? Where is the rational explanation behind this concept? At what...

Mess Of Mine

FREE WRITING

He doesn't love me. That I know, perhaps too well than I'd want to admit.  It's a human pattern. We all want the unattainable. If something is within our reach, we're not interested. What's easy to get is actually boring.

No matter how much I tell myself everything is going to be just fine, something stirs inside me. As if I don't want things to be okay. I'm a mess. My mind is a mess. I'm a loser, I...
