Message from Writer

-I'm Marvel trash, and I'm honestly okay with it. Bucky Barnes owns me.
-I highly recommend any Cassandra Clare book. She will make and break your life.
-I am *a little* obsessed with Supernatural. I may have written some Destiel fanfiction.
-Everything Kevin Kantor has written is amazing, and no one can tell me otherwise.
- Stories are so much more than words thrown on paper or codes in a computer--they are places to visit and people to meet.
-Really bad at social media.
-I drew the drawings that I usually have as my profile picture.
-I'm making up a poetry book to publish!

Why Us?

FREE WRITING

What did my people ever do to you?
They say our noses are gourdes
That we can smell money through a thick canvas wallet
We are always on the end of the short stick,
From the theorized Egyptian plague, to the attacks that happened every day of Hanukkah
We are gods, my friends!
We can turn a simple question into a riddle, by answering it with another
Our thick hair is not yours to pull
Our language is not yours...

the first of many

FREE WRITING

This year is different
It is the first of many family occasions
with an absence as cold as hatred,
as sickly as anger
But the gap in my life must be accommodated
because I can't imagine
the most important person in my life
sitting beside me during the first cold holiday
because I can't imagine
his smile on my birthday
over a pack of neon gel pens
When that person is no longer of this world
But that person has...

Memorial Service

FREE WRITING

I know Write The World has a large Christian community. I'm not disregarding that. I'm not saying anything rude or disrespectful.

My dad died November third. Yesterday was his memorial. The service was horrible, no ounce of personal information. It pissed me off. The speech wasn't supposed to be religious. That was what had been planned. I was completely blind-sighted by it, because literally everything about it had to do with religion. The preacher said that he takes time to...

A Heartbreaking Place

FREE WRITING

Was it just misaligned?
Was it to cushion my fall?
I bore my heart
I bore my soul
All for the risk of you
(It really hurt
Because the world is such a heartbreaking place
Where my words get lost in space
Pulled in to just get pushed back out)
I get it
I'm a fragile being caught behind sturdy barbed wire
I have hands riddled with patchwork callouses
I have broad shoulders that get pushed and shoved in a...

Why I Write | my mental health

PROMPT: Why I Write

I write to face my fears,
my nightmares I have
fought so hard to repress

I write to slow down
to feel something other
than a speed-of-light numb

I write to feel refreshed,
to have a peace of mind,
to speak to others in a way
I cannot do face-to-face

so bitterly sweet; these violent waves

FREE WRITING

yes, icarus knew the horror he could face;
blisters and burns
but the sun was so warm,
so bitterly sweet,
an idea in his head,
full of promise and heat
the boy wanted to imagine instead of scars
gentle kisses branded to his skin
but the sun could not carry
the weight of the world,
could not replace the careful breeze
keeping icarus afloat
to love is to want
and, god, icarus wanted the sun,
like honey stuck to his fingertips
