The Lady In The Flower House

Note before reading

This poem arose from my inspiration of the flower houses in the Dubai Miracle Garden. I thought about how it would feel to live inside a house like that, but also how magical it would be to visit the inside of it. I hope you enjoy this poem and feel inspired too.

The lady in the flower house

I pass the lady in the flower house,
A kindly woman with a grin,
I feel so like a mouse,
Compared to her towering inn.
Her eyes smile back at me,
Inviting me inside.
Oh, how can I resist!
My body has tried.

The Girl With The Many Books

Every week they see a girl,
Walking down the street.
Carrying a stack of books,
Which she will quickly read.

A thicker one,
A thinner one,
A shiny one,
A dull one.

The girl with the many, many books,
Carries every week.

A nerd, a geek they call her,
But the girl just ignores.
And carries on with her stack of books,
Which she will then explore.

A romance,
A mystery,
A horror,
A fantasy.

The girl with the many, many books,
Reads every week.

Sometimes they bump right into her,
So she spills all her books.
But she just picks them up from the ground,
And walks on.

The bullies,
They can't satisfy themselves.
So they throw some rocks at her.
She dodges them, then stops.

She looks them in the eye.
"What you looking at?" they hiss.
She doesn't respond, gives a sad smile.
That was the girl with the many books.

It's dark. I close my eyes and try to go back to the comfort of my sleep. But I can't.

All I can hear is the sound of silence. Nothing.

Can this be a dream? Suddenly I am up and running. It's still dark, I can't see where I'm going. I want to get out of here but I can't. I'm still running. I'm afraid I'll trip and fall, but how can you trip in emptiness? Now I'm panting. I'm running out of breath. My throat feels dry and sore.

I'm still running. I can see a tiny light far to my left. I try to tilt my body to run that way but I can't. The light disappears as soon as it...
