I stand at the edge.
Behind me, frost melts from grass heads, trickling down their stems with a soft clich, clich. It held to the grass firm all morning and into the day, which is nearly over. The air - today it’s the kind that slips right through you - lays heavy, still. A sound breaks the normal silence. The hum of cars tearing down the highway, even though it’s miles away, past a rolling forest.
