Her head pounded.
She picks up her phone to call someone, anyone, but immediately winces and places it back down on the bathroom counter. Backing up against the wall, she sighs shaking her head at the situation, at the world, at herself. Regret is the first thing on her mind in the morning and it keeps her awake at night but never seems to cease to exist. It always lurks like a masked black figure creeping closer and closer.

vanilla extract, by itself, is bitter but it brings out flavor if mixed with its opposite, chocolate. I guess we were a little like that. you liked the taste of vanilla extract. it was a little concerning and unusual but you put it in everything. coffee, cakes, smoothies. i told you that you would get sick, that it was too strong. but you just laughed and replied "it's better than drugs right?"
