I dream. I write. That's basically it. But if I'm not doing both, I can be found binge watching films, hoarding books, stealing fancy pens, and surprisingly, running a start-up business.

Message from Writer

We don't read and write poetry because it's cute. We read and write poetry because we are members of the human race. And the human race is filled with passion. And medicine, law, business, engineering, these are noble pursuits and necessary to sustain life. But poetry, beauty, romance, love, these are what we stay alive for.

To quote from Whitman, "O me! O life!... of the questions of these recurring; of the endless trains of the faithless... of cities filled with the foolish; what good amid these, O me, O life?"

Answer.

That you are here - that life exists, and identity; that the powerful play goes on and you may contribute a verse. That the powerful play *goes on* and you may contribute a verse. What will your verse be?

Dead Poet in Construction #hearmyvoice

FREE WRITING

My poetry is dead.
It’s gone it’s gone it’s gone
because I killed it, drowned it under
the creases of my palms, blood
for ink, thin-lipped, gone.
And I have nowhere to bleed,
rip my scars off and bandage them
over with a broken rhyme scheme.
But can’t you see I’m getting better?

[I have a cure.
 It’s here it’s here it’s here it’s here
 I just can’t find it.]

Yes, I’m getting better and
I’m writing...

They say we are built from fragments,
then you enter the scene—a whole spade
walking, crown resting on his head. All
the legends we are told, all the myths we
write as truths, the pieces we try to put
back together—suddenly now lies.
Where is our religion, our faith, when all
that we have, all we are taught, destroyed by
a man we never saw fall down from the skies?
It goes this way again. You darting across
the room,...

Love on Overdose

PROMPT: Open Prompt

We love until we don’t.
Until where the beating of our hearts
used to exist is now replaced by cages
built from too much overuse.
We get used to it like we use touse to,
use to, we are both sick of it.
We once saw love as a cure, the antidote
to heal the people we once were—a mess.
We believed in the power of hand holding,
the little sparks we felt from grazing each ...

Who Told You This is True?

PROMPT: Sijo

This is love and I am so sure of it. I love you, I say.
It slips off my tongue easier than I thought. I spat out lie.
Nothing is true here, I say. But this time, I am not so sure.
