the white walls engulf us
while seconds pass as centuries
tired eyes and stifled yawns
but we simply can’t complain

for she cries, with aching bones
her legs can’t help but tremble
the one who always cared for us
now vulnerable and weak

it’s hard to see her feel the pain
it hurts to see her hurt
i hold her hand and feel the shake
she grips me tighter then

the sickly smell of hospital
does less than comfort we  ...

falling out (at fifteen)

FREE WRITING

we are fourteen
kiddy friendship blooms
we smile

we are fifteen
skating down the street
we laugh so hard we cry

we are fifteen
sleepovers and popcorn
we laugh

we are fifteen
i’m busy on weekends
i laugh, you smile

we are fifteen
thunderstorm strikes
i smile at you and
nothing

we are sixteen
silence
constant silence

we are seventeen
goodbyes approaching
time for peace

we are seventeen
i shake your hand

thick rope, woven
pull tighter, knots
my wrists, blistering
thumping in my chest.
my feet, tingly

pierce
drag

sigh
freedom, at last.

one i simply couldn’t pitch

where we can’t start a riot
i think of her in sun
oh baby, let’s just run?
but all my calls are night
her one goal clear in sight
for something that’s quite casual
no components valuable
frustration tastes like cherry
i understand you’re weary
but take a little leap
and give me...

poured it out
my heart
like a river
running water
filled with constant
adoration
and commitment
to you
let me down
and again
kiss her cheek
midnight hair
hold his hand
auburn eyes
while i watched
and you never
really cared
now i realise
you wouldn’t give
a single thing
up for me
for the girl
on the sidelines
who lost all
just for you.
