PROMPT: Speech Writing Competition 2018

Or else we have a cursory discussion where nothing real is said- and then we move on. Heaven forbid you start talking about the election at your in-laws house. That never ends well. And no matter where you are, if you say you like talking about politics, half...

More Than Our Four Walls

PROMPT: Environmental Writing Competition September 2018

Hugo, Minnesota: My Home

PROMPT: Travel Writing Competition 2018

Two more things: First, I'd double check your punctuation. It's pretty spot on, but there are one or two places where the sentence structure is weird, or you have a run-on sentence, because you're missing a comma or something. Second...

Shone's Dam

PROMPT: Travel Writing Competition 2018

Taylor, Arizona, is a tiny town in the middle of absolutely nowhere. I'm not exaggerating- with a population of 4200 people, it's three long hours through the desert to the nearest large town. While Taylor has many interesting quirks- the conservative lean, the feed store's life sized ceramic horse that's repainted every holiday, and the "hunting and sports equals life" mindset- I want to focus on the dam and it's cliffs.
Shone's Dam is located a mile or two outside...
