PROMPT: Flash Fiction Competition 2019

I sit on a rock in a world of eternal night with the deafening roar of a dead sun at my back. We all grow weary of this journey. Animals land with a thud on the road and the plants crumble against hands, skin pulled taut. No one speaks. They wouldn’t be heard.  I reach for my cane, stand, and continue on.
