This poem is a story
It's my story, but not really
It's how things used to be when we could say
We would be friends forever and ever
But not really

This is for you
And I hope it'll get to you
But then again, I hope not
Not really

Remember when we were young?
We held the secrets of the universe in our hands
Time and space would be our domain
And everyday would be the same yet unique...

Words don't have to rhyme all the time
Sometimes, you just let it flow
Because the more you know, the more you say
And that's how things go anyway

You try so hard but to no avail
Well, sometimes you sail, but mostly you fail
Then wail
Exhale
And get out of your headĀ

I came from the privelege to...

"It's okay"
Under the scorching heat of the sun I say
Walking day by day at the place I'll no longer be staying in
Fiddling through papers in my hand, under my chin

"It's okay"
I'm sick of how two words want to be heard
When they both signify a lieĀ
I dry the droplets on my nose but God only knows how I'm aching to claw my own face out
When my every bout turns out a failure

I've never fantasized about the moon
Nor admired its glow in the night
And it took 18 long years for me
To be mesmerized by its radiance

But then a new feeling: envy

Visible from the earth, the moon is flawed
It's not a round, glossy orb of light
Its craters leave dark spots on its surface
And thus making it blemished

But no one seems to notice

They still bask in the moon's radiance
They make love underneath it ...
