PROMPT: Given First Line

Ships at a distance have every man's wish on board. 

But not mine.

The colossal hunk of metal that vomits it's burnt insides out into our Goddess's abode has earned nothing but disgust from me. 

"Leave us be! Damned Snowmen!" Picking up an empty bottle of rum, I hurl it towards the ship. It falls with a plop into the waters, missing my target by miles. 

The chorus of laughter and curses that are exchanged between those drunken damned men begin...

"Leave us be! Damned Snowmen!" Glancing at what's left of my leg, I begin to cry, gripping my cane for support as earthquakes splitting my lungs and back into pieces wrecked havoc...

Over time, I have accumulated different names–Khadeej, Khadijay, Khadoodle, Poppincoppin–whether I liked it or not. Eventually, most of them lost their hues, having disappeared into the corners of my notebook, resting in the back of my mind–waiting for someone to summon it.

One name that relentlessly follows me, recognized only by an exclusive few, is Ate (Ah-tay). In Filipino culture, this name is a sign of respect given to those possessing authority and responsibility. My parents entrusted me with it.
