I am a seventeen year-old high school senior. I love nature, photography, and writing. I am also an avid reader. I love all genres, but my favorite stories take place in new worlds. I aspire to be an author in the future, but I need to write more.

A Moon's Grace

FREE WRITING

I once uponed a moon in dark outer space
It glowed as vibrant as rainbow jewels cut
But the bright light could not hide a moon's disgrace
The bulkiness of craters that jut
Like speared bone and overgrown needled thorn
Wild rocks scattered across its surface
And great folds marked where nature's time had torn
I know that beauty is not a moon's purpose
But that moon was more beautiful than any I'd seen before

FREE WRITING

The sun perches, nestled among the airy clouds that fill the Summer sky. A soft wind tosses through the air and shivers the trees. They glide along the leaves, waves of air and glistening light.

The Forest (A Poem)

FREE WRITING

Spiraling paths, sloping with brush
The tangling weeds, green and lush
In the woods, a bounding hare
Stops and twitches with a keen stare
The crackle and swish of a stream
The sun’s shattering gallant beams
A bristling shiver stirs the leaves
Branches folded in lacy weaves
A sharp arrow, arching, whistles
Through the trees and purple thistles
A wolf falls to the ground to die
Above the forest, a blue sky

The flames rose and clapped in the dark like wild thunderclouds flashing bolts of lightning. The fire sent hazy swarms of light dancing against the trunks of ancient trees. She was in the middle of the forest, the very middle, the heart. It seemed as though everything in the forest was alive, even the smooth river that filtered through the trees nearby. The water chose its own path and plodded graciously along.
