I'm a child of God and an avid reader.
I write everything from books to musicals.
I become easily obsessed with musicals, including Venice, Hamilton, Ordinary Days, Starkid, DEH, The Lightning Thief and Natasha, Pierre and the Great Comet of 1812.

Writing. The power of unspoken communication through an anecdote of colour and concept that has the ability to change hearts and put across opinions you may otherwise be forced to keep locked in a dark and spidery basement. Those appear a lot in literature. Along with trios, orphans, love triangles, plot twists and unlikely heroes.

The beauty of writing is in the words you do not have to say, the network of people, and the freedom of tiny squiggles inhabiting a projection of monotone coloured processed tree bark.

The Loss of Speech

PROMPT: Strike

I would walk out of school if it gave voice to those who are losing theirs.
If a single, silent action could dominate over loud, drowning yells and cries of indignation, if it could bring not only mouths but ears into our lives, I would do it.
Those proclaiming our loss of free speech are silenced by the fury, assumptions and fear of a crowd used to being heard.
That is the crushing of our words, the loss of our...

2019 Recipe

PROMPT: 2019

A blaze of wonder to lighten the sky.
A crumb of acknowledgement of worlds gone by.
A smattering of lost memories that keep our eyes forward.
A beaker of silence for when words lead us wayward.

A cargo of stability to keep us on the ground.
A silo of hope that need not make a sound.
A platoon of curiosity for when life is the same.
A bottle of invention to liven the game.

An infusion of worlds, stories and...

Residence

PROMPT: Turned to Stone

My dog died. My parents died. My grandparents died. My sister died. My brother died. I suppose I died as well. It wasn't my fault this time though. This time it was her. And she got away with it. The police won't find her trace, for she does not hide in the world. She resides in my dog. And now he is alive. And so am I.

Mixtape

PROMPT: Mixtape

If a life is a narrative, then applying a soundtrack to it makes it a musical.

1. Hello - The Drowsy Chaperone
"I'm feeling a little blue... You know, a little anxious for no particular reason... Anyway, whenever I'm feeling this way 'blue' I like to listen to my music"

2.
Annabel's Lament - The Dolls of New Albion
"The girl learns to hide, deep inside of fractions and facts and worlds of math, a long lonely land she can...

FREE WRITING

The apocalypse began with a number.

A single number. A rational, ordinary, run-of-the-mill number.

Which was accosted by an algorithm.

A single algorithm. A rational, ordinary, run-of-the-mill algorithm.

From a number did the apocalypse begin.

Strings of numbers, molecules of light and insubstantial mass, swirled from the fixed point in the CyberScape and descended further into the networking. The numbers hummed as they congealed into code, and the hum was adopted and edited into the algorithm.

Mmm, mm, ahhmm, ah,...

Mirror

PROMPT: Environmental Writing Competition September 2018

When does the mirror reflect the truth?

Picture a landscape. Fresh and expansive, dotted with houses and cottages.
A destination for some and a home for others, the two intertwining in harmony.

Picture a background. High rises and offices reach for the sky in the pinnacle of human innovation.
Cars travel peacefully, luxury and autonomy key players in the scene.

Picture the people. The children carefree, youthful and innocent.
The adults kind, compassionate, relaxed and well provided for.

Does the...

Every word was written. Every malevolent syllable saved. The sentences flashed in her head, a painful anthem that a delete button couldn't quell, couldn't silence.
