More People Should Climb

PROMPT: Travel Writing Competition 2018

One foot in front of the other. You want to count your foots, but there are too many. Up, down, up down. Be careful not to stumble — this is not the normal course, people fall all of time.  Watch where you place your feet, for nothing under you is stable, sometimes you get lucky. This is unrestored life, or the Great Wall of China.
The unrestored part is not what you would see in all of the...

Connected

PROMPT: Science Fiction Competition 2018

Alissa woke up to the sound of notifications from her phone. She counted them: 507 notifications from ConnectedPhoto, ConnectedLife, ConnectedVideo, and ConnectedStat. Sitting up in her bed, she scrolled through all of them. First came ConnectedLife - she had the most subbers(people who followed her) and it was the most significant of all the connectedness. Before replying to any comments or liking or disliking any posts, she made a post.

In A Pickle

PROMPT: Food Writing Competition 2018

You find a table with some good friends. You discuss the latest video game, trend, “youtuber" or whatever is popping on the internet. Somebody calls your number, name, or your class code and you get up, get a styrofoam tray, and pile onto it a mountain of rock hard french fries, a pizza that resembles a brain, with uncooked neuron-looking cheese and an unstable, soggy crust. On the side you add an apple, which is unusually shiny and...

Barbaric

PROMPT: Monster Flash Fiction Competition 2018

I don’t have a name. They just call me The Barber. It’s about as vague as what happens to my victims. The police never find out what I am. Barber by day and vampire by night. Well, I suppose I’m always a vampire. I guess you could call me a barbaric vampire. Haha.
Mr. Todd walks through the door to my tired but efficient shop. He wears a top hat and a suit. Ah, fashion these days. He...
