Silver King with crooked crown and youthful eyes,
Easy lies your head unburdened by sin,
Though Lust and Greed run amuck in your court
Their vices slip just beyond your mind,
And your neck rests unstrained by the burden of kingdom.

A dead man takes a soulless string,
And patches up the bloody pieces of the living.
He gave up the skin 'neath his eyes

Gabriel

PROMPT: On Courage

I; such an understated word it is.
Holding the whole of my being on my tongue.

On An October Eve

PROMPT: Poetry and Spoken Word Competition 2018

Evening taints the air,
Festering like pus from an open wound.
The contusions spill out from the yolk,
Marring the once-soft sky further.
The sun melts over the horizon,
Dripping into that Great Beyond,
And night is poured into the bowl to fill its place.

Yet night is an old, worn blanket.
Its many holes and patches are obvious.
We can see them from where we're sat,
Glimmering jewels beyond the curtain.
Just out of reach from our perch,
