She looks in the mirror
Seeing something she doesn’t like
She tries to fix it
Though it was never broken
On the contrary
It was beautiful
Intricate
What I️ would call perfect
But it was broken to her
Because of
Every magazine
Every cruel joke
Every mean word
Every celebrity diet
Everything she’s ever known

Billions of people
With lives just as complex as yours
With stories just as insane as yours
With hardship just as stressful as yours
But all that concerns us is ‘me’
When you glance at someone walking by in a store
The first thing you think of isn’t whether their happy, what their story is, or how they’re doing
It’s you, always you.

So fast to place blame

In that grey area
It all takes place
They know not
Of the harm they inflict
It’s just one big grey area.
