I don't understand. This doesn't feel real. Just last month you and I, we were speaking of school. I drew you a picture, which now hangs in my room. PROMPT: The Unknown

I know my name,
but not my fate,
or if a higher power, me, did he create?

I know I'm loved,
but I don't know why,
because this self-hate burns my skin rye.

I know what I want to be,
but not what I will become.
These obstacles before me I'll never overcome.

I know I don't like to be alone,
but not if I'll find another.
Isn't there more to life than just a lover?

I know I'll die,
but...

The Untold Tale

PROMPT: Monster Flash Fiction Competition 2018

We have all been told the disconcerting tales of the monsters that loom among us by a storyteller who holds a flashlight beneath their chin. But even the bravest of them cannot bring themselves to tell this story, for this is no mere fairy tale. These creatures are real.

The dancing embers around my heart shall never be contained
Those who try prepare to die and burn upon the flames
Your skin will become leather from my fire set ablaze
And I can bet you all I have you’ll wish you had refrained

To your ludicrous rules, forever shall I disobey
Time and time again, me you will always fail to confine
with love there always is a way; I’m sick of you calling mine pure fiction

Goodbye, Grandma.

I don't understand. This doesn't feel real. Just last month you and I, we were speaking of school. I drew you a picture, which now hangs in my room. But then they told me you stopped talking, and then after a week, your heart also stopped beating. My mother sat at your bedside that whole week, six hours away, too afraid to leave for only a second. She was there when you left, and I wonder if you even knew she was at your side. She said you looked at her, so I guess that gives me hope.
I don't understand. This doesn't feel real. That time towards the end, I felt like I was watching it through a T.V. Screen. I was aware of what was happening, but there was nothing I could do about it. Was I selfish not to say goodbye? Just last month you and I, we were speaking of school. I drew you...

The Untold Tale

We have all been told the disconcerting tales of the monsters that loom among us by a storyteller who holds a flashlight beneath their chin. Fictional characters dreamt up by creative minds seeking to elicit fear from anyone who will listen. But even the bravest of them cannot bring themselves to tell this story, for this is no mere fairy tale. These creatures are real.
It has been argued how long these creatures have been among us. Some say since the dawn of time, and others only a few hundred thousand years. One cannot fathom why these...things do what they do. You can not begin to compare to the stories you've heard. As terrifying as vampires may be, nothing compares. Vampires kill because they need blood to stay strong, but these monsters have no need. They thirst for blood just the same, but for pleasure not survival. They know the things they are doing are bad, yet...

The Embers of my Heart

The dancing embers around my heart shall never be contained
Those who try prepare to die and burn upon the flames
Your skin will become leather from my fire set ablaze
And I can bet you all I have you’ll wish you had refrained

To your ludicrous rules, forever shall I disobey
Time and time again, me you will always fail to confine
with love there always is a way; I’m sick of you calling mine pure fiction
And for your endless years of efforts you will surely have to pay

I am tired of being told countless times that it is just a stupid faze
For my love of hearts not parts, to you I never shall apologize
To think you used to be who I looked up to, but since then I’ve grown wise
I’m glad to say that those distant memories are nothing but a haze

WILD

Quirky

Unkempt curls that framed her face
Bounding through the streets she raced
She raced the hate, the doubt, the pain
and wore a smirk throughout the rain

Her eyes were narrow and eyebrows high
as if to challenge her enemies to try
She wore mismatched socks and a tutu upon her waist
they say she's crazy, but that's not the case

She bounds through rain with feet of bare
You can judge her all you want but she won't care
If you give her a rude remark
she'll smile and say she's not afraid of you bark

But if you're not like everyone else
she just might make your heart melt
she'll tell you whimsical and impossible stories
The ones that can wipe away all your worries

If you get a chance to know her you'll see
and decide for yourself what you think of me.
They say that I'm crazy as mad as a hatter
but I can easily dismiss their chatter
