Hope?

FREE WRITING

The wind blows colder and the sky grows darker.
The leaves fall faster and trees come barer.
The clouds crowd closer and the snow falls swifter.
All is lost
But . . .
Is it not true that the fire burns brighter?
That the house feels warmer and the children play longer?
That the mantel looks prettier and the dog sleeps sounder?
Hope is here

A Moment

PROMPT: Flash Autobiography

I had just begun taking music lessons for the clarinet, so I was attending band rehearsals twice a week. At one of these early rehearsals our band instructor had told all the new members to just listen. Listen to the older kids play. During one of these songs, I had a moment. A moment where everything that was going to happen or had happened no longer mattered. It was like the only thing that existed in the world was music....

Sisters

FREE WRITING

She's left
The wind whirls away and fills the night with empty sound. The sky is black and void. The stars are absent from their homes.
She's far
The grass rustles as animals scurry past. The treess sway in the breeze. The world sighs in silence.
She's gone
Her smile was so rare. We were both so young. But I miss my dear sister whom I used to play with all day long.
She's not coming back

I love this piece! Keep up the good work! My favorite part is where it talks about the balloons and wishing this person happy birthday and everything below that :)
