i want the sun
to continue to
beam down it’s
sharp rays on
my life.

i want the moon
to continue to
lead me in this
everlasting darkness.

i want the sea
to continue calling
me through the depths
of my pain.

i want the sky
to continue convincing
me that the future
is bright.

I want the world
To continue spinning
Even after I’m gone

PROMPT: Bookshelf

It's funny how I write a new list each school year for the books I've read, but I never saw this prompt until now. Well, I can't say I have the best taste in books; I jump from genre to genre, especially lingering in realistic fiction and classics. This year, I've spent a lot of time in young adult fiction to see if I can enjoy the more recent books being published. And, I must admit, it's been pretty good....

I assumed that once I graduated from high school, life would be smooth sailing. I was so wrong. The most stressful thing we had that summer was Mirai's extravagant wedding. She always had terrible timing.
It occurred on the hottest day of July and sweat was pouring out of all my pores.
The wedding was taking place at the winery that father worked; his boss had been kind enough to lent us the venue for a...

The day of my high school graduation was...
Enchanting and sorrowful at the same time.
I didn't want to leave. I had become so attached to my routine, that I couldn't see myself doing anything else, even though I had already been accepted to the top university of Japan in Tokyo.
I remember standing among the other dozen students of Class B from our high school. Youta and I stood by one another, grinning widely as...

PROMPT: Polar Opposite

My dark blue headphones pulse with music, filling my ears with a melody of sounds. I watch as more people board the train, filling every spare space. This was normal in Mumbai. Or as normal as Mumbai can be.
I drum my fingers against my canary yellow book bag as the train pulls away from the stop. I slip my ticket out of my threadbare red jacket and hand it to the conductor who's attempting to squeeze through the crowd...

My perch on the roof was not hidden very well. The wall enclosing the roof was not tall enough to hide my peering head. There was nowhere to run if things got bad and nothing much to see. I completely blamed Charlie for choosing this spot. And I blamed Pip for not accepting his role as a scout. I was going to have to do both of our jobs.

The rain was pattering lightly onto the roof but I was...
