What Is Said

PROMPT: Dialogue Dexterity

I was unsure how long we sat there.
"My butt is starting to get cold." I rolled my eyes.
"That's your fault for picking the only wet bench in the park." I rubbed my hands for warmth that was no there.
"So, what was the point of this again?" She asked. I glanced around the almost empty park.
"I told you, he's always here around this time. It's unnerving really," I said. She only shook her head and tugged her...

Not Exactly Myself

FREE WRITING

"...full recovery...strange..." My ears adjusted like a radio, catching words a few words here and there. That must mean it was working. As if on cue, I felt something tight lock onto my body, restraining any sort of movement. It felt thin, tight, yet soft against my ethereal body. Could I even see? Realizing that, indeed, I should have eyes, I attempted to open my eyelids and found them pulling apart with difficulty.
"She's opening her eyes!" My surroundings were...

Drifting

PROMPT: Talking to “You”

Your fingers brushed the cool stream, the water making way for your hand. The canoe moved swiftly and silently and you were afraid any noise would break the mystical dream you found yourself in. The fog was thick around and nary a plant could be seen. For all you knew, you were drifting out at open sea, never to be seen again. Your breath hitched as the still waters were suddenly not so still, a small wave pushing your canoe...

Story Story Story

PROMPT: Ask Michael

What are some methods that you use to structure a plot in a logical order but also one that is intriguing? Along with that, how do you keep a story interesting? I have difficulties writing an intriguing plot with conflict that keeps a reader interested and invested in the story.

He Saw

PROMPT: Third Person Limited

The way he saw Kai was like putting on a pair of rose-colored glasses; Kai could do no evil in Lee's mind. He thought the world of him, comparing the ginger-headed boy to that of an angel. Then again, Lee always knew Kai had saved him from his own mind. There was a sort of, beauty, to the way Kai's brain worked. Sometimes, Lee thought, it seemed as if his golden boy lacked a brain, but rather thought with his...

Names For Nature

PROMPT: Names for Nature

Many years ago, my family took a camping trip at a park that had slots available for cars to park and people to camp in. We rented one that luckily didn't have a park full of screaming kids behind it. However, there was a beaten path through the tall grass that led to a completely empty area of the woods with nothing but trees for meters. My brother and I cut vines to make swings and even discovered a drop...
