PROMPT: The Art of Specificity

Cool piece of writing, the grammar is more or less good. What I would suggest as a side note is perhaps experiment with different senses in your writing, move past sight and hearing. Try using taste, touch and smell, they...

Very well written, a short but impressionable piece that conveys some very important (if depressing) ideas. Fantastic work, I hope my feedback is helpful, and I look forward to the next piece of writing you publish :) Thanks, Jacob PS:...

Pretty cool piece, maybe the only other thing I'd say about it is what would further verses look like? Your poem could maybe benefit from another verse or two, and then it would be perfect. Otherwise, really cool poem, keep...

Remember

Verse
There's a forgotten song I used to sing
Can't help remembering how it goes
Kinda reminds me of a friend
Who never said goodbye

Chorus
Oh, the melody's stuck in my head
But the words are lost in my mind

Bridge
If I could just remember, remember....
If I could just remember, remember....

Verse
Every note's another colour I can see
But it's blurry like the portrait of a ghost
And I still hear the whispers in my dreams
Then the darkness recedes and leaves nothing at all

Chorus
Oh, the melody's stuck in my head
But the words are lost in my mind

Bridge
If I could just remember, remember....
If I could just remember, remember....
If I could just remember, remember
If I could just remember, remember

The wind is howling in my head
Rustling all the leaves once more....

Outro
And I still can't remember, remember
And I still can't remember, remember
If I could just...

Remember

There's a forgotten song I used to sing
I can't help remembering the way it sounds
Like a friend
A friend that never said goodbye

It's been playing in my head since fifteen
The melody seems to ring with nostalgia
But the words
The words escape my mind

And I still wonder, if it will go away
Because no matter how I try, I keep singing it wrong

Every note paints the picture more clearly
They're like the colors of a memory that just
Seems to glow
To glow like moonlight

It echoes like a whisper in my dreams
And when the darkness recedes I try to face it
But I'm trapped
I'm trapped in the sunshine

And I still wonder, if it will go away
Because no matter how I try, I keep singing it wrong
And it haunts me, with laughter and smiles
A friendly face that I chase, but it's gone

There's something reassuring about the breeze ...

A More Hopeful Song

VERSE:
You can say people are vicious and cruel
That it's our nature to hurt one another
In spite of every evil thing we do
I know our nature's to nurture each other

PRECHORUS:
Still we build walls
Dividing us all
Watching the gap growing larger

CHORUS:
People say that nothing will ever change
But I disagree
People say one song won't change a thing
Why can't they see
If we all sing a more hopeful song
We might just get along

VERSE:
You can say people are mean and small
We disgust and distrust each other
But they could build ten thousand walls
And we'd still fight to help one another

PRECHORUS + CHORUS

OUTRO:
I know people can't change in a day
But I know we deserve
A chance to save our world
This sort of change can make people afriad
But who knows, we might just get along
If we sing a more hopeful song

Verse 1:
I see a world through this one screen
Immersed beyond obsession
It doesn’t mean a thing
Drifting away as I float down stream
The water is murky
Feels like a dream

Verse 2:
There’s a sandstorm swirling on outside
But we’re safe in this house
There’s no need to hide
Cries on the wind that no one hears
Blown away and forgotten
Because no one seems to care

Pre Chorus:
What a world we’ve made
We need to fix it before it’s too late
Because we’re falling apart right now

Chorus:
When we can;t stand tall
Face up to it all
Bent and broken we fall
Crushed beneath the pain
It’s time for a change
Things can’t stay this way
Tomorrows a new day
And the time is now

Verse 3:
Strange painting lie upon the walls
Some leak bright colour
Others with none at all
If you glow brightly...
