Writing is all I can do to keep from going insane. I still haven't figured the universe out but I'm trying one word at a time.

Forgotten

FREE WRITING

Forgive me, but I don't remember,
Over the years my memory has faded,
Remind me, how do I know you?
Go on, don't be embarrassed.
Oh, what do you mean I should know?
Ten years...
Ten years?
Eve, my daughter has been gone that long,
No, it can't be--you're her!

Home

PROMPT: Zoom In

Take me home to the rolling landscapes of the Midwest. To where oceans of crops sway in the wind.
Take me home to the lush green of Missouri. To where trees stand tall and caves reach deep down.
Take me home to the North West corner. To where Kansas City barbeque and farms are found.
Take me home to the farmhouse in a small town. To where I can never feel confined.

Open Up

Jay and I were still in his car talking two hours after he had pulled into the parking lot of my apartment complex to drop me off. We had been practically inseparable since he came back form his mission. I didn’t want to spend too much time without him. We just had so much to catch up on after two years.  I had the suspicion that he felt the same considering he found any excuse possible to always be in...

Horrid Habit

FREE WRITING

I was seven when I became ensnared,
A vine wrapped around my wrist,
I didn’t see any harm, at first, it looked lovely.

I let the vine stay as I continued down my path,
As I walked it guided me slowly off course,
I found myself lost, but not quite sure how.

I was a teen when I realized it was not what it seemed,
A serpent was at my wrist, disgust, fear, embarrassment,
I was being poisoned and pulled...

Piece of Mind

FREE WRITING

I think I’ve finally found it,
Peace of mind,
Anxiety subsides leaving calm.

But it cannot last, I've only found,
A piece of mind,
The illusion breaks leaving chaos.

It was only ever a sample of a delicacy that I can’t afford.

Poem

FREE WRITING

I want to read poems that remind me of you. I want to write poetry about you. I want our love story to be an epic poem. I want all of this because you are my living poem.

Jay and I were the last two up talking for the third night in a row. We had been practically inseparable since he came back. I didn’t dare let him out of my sight. I had the suspicion that he felt the same considering he found any excuse possible to always be in the same room. And when we sat together we were so close that I could feel his body heat, but we weren’t quite touching.
