“There is nothing to writing. All you do is sit down at a typewriter and bleed.”
― Ernest Hemingway

Message from Writer

Hello! My name is Cara. I'm just another young Christian author trying to write a decent novel. My main works are on Wattpad under the account @CCWinters. I love getting feedback from other writers, so it would mean the world to me if you would leave a review on one of my pieces. Thanks, and have a good day!

Fantasy

FREE WRITING

i sit in this world
which seems all too well lived in
and i listen to the cars
            driving by my window
as they honk angrily at each other
                    and i close my eyes
and let it all fade away
as i fall into my fantasy
                                of waterfalls and forests
                                    where no one has been
                                        except for the faeries
                                            who guard the land
and the animals who live in it
                                                    i am the only human
                                                        who has ever walked in...

Words

FREE WRITING

Look around you.
Count all the words that you see.
Isn't it beautiful?
That God would design something
as simple as the spoken word
to be our means of communication
with Him and with our fellow humans?

Look around you.
Count all the words that you see.
Now picture them vanishing,
fading right before your eyes.
How drab, how boring
would our lives be
without the blessing of words?

Look around you.
Count all the words that you see.
Now...

Of Ashes and War Chapter One

FREE WRITING

Rae awoke to the sound of the Sunrise Horn.
It had been named this by the villagers because it always sounded the moment the first rays of sun appeared over the horizon. To some it would have signaled the start of a new day and thus new opportunities, but not to them. To them it meant another day of work, until the sun went down and they were allowed to rest for twelve more precious hours.
But today for Rae,...

This Could Be A Famous Poem

FREE WRITING

This poem doesn't rhyme. It
just has random breaks in
the lines. Most famous poems
are written like this, which
is strange. It gets kind of
hard to follow when all
the poet is doing
is writing something and
then pressing enter in
random places. If that's
all it takes to be a
poet, then anyone could
be famous for their poetry.
his is a strange world we
live in, isn't it?

World Without Color

FREE WRITING

A foggy morning
is as dreary as a world without color.
The bleak gray skies
add a deathly tone to everything else,
taking the pigment
out of once beautiful things.
And it seems
that all you can focus on
is the bleakness of the sky,
and then you send
up a silent prayer
for God to bring back the color again.

Paper

FREE WRITING

They say I was once a tree,
a mighty oak
reaching strong towards Heaven
or a graceful willow
waving limbs in the wind.
And now as I sit in the dark
with my fellow kinsmen
I try to remember that life
but it is lost to me forever.
And I wonder as I sit here,
alone,
    unused,
        unwanted,
why anyone would tear down a majestic tree
and use it to create something
that would eventually be thrown...
