PROMPT: Poetry and Spoken Word Competition 2018

She was the color red and singed every piece of paper thumbtacked loosely on the barren, stone walls she passed. 
With just a gentle touch, she could light my skin ablaze the same way she lit my being and watched it deplete into ashes so many years before.   
As I wait, I count all the lines on my hands and feel the beads of sweat building on my palms.
