I love the ones with nicotine laced on their fingers. I love the ones that can't take anything seriously, even a car crash. I love the ones that stand by my side no matter what happens. But, most of all, I love myself. The one who stayed alive.

Now a happy poem

What an unfamiliar feeling I had when you embraced me
The past six months felt like they had only been a second
The people around me vanished
I only saw you
That hug made all of the waiting worth it

Slightly more optimistic poem about loneliness

I wonder if he thinks of me as much as I think of him.
The rational part of my brain knows that he doesn't.
The hopeful part wishes he'd stop and remember me.
Just for a minute.

A Poem About Lonliness

I try to fall asleep, but something is missing.
The void next to me seems to grow.
I sit there alone, wishing it to be filled.

But nothing happens

The Ones Who Started It

PROMPT: Environmental Writing Competition September 2018

Life looks at death with a disapproving frown
"Look what you've done:
You've destroyed my beautiful creation.
The grass that was once green and flowing
is now replaced with hard concrete and litter.
The ocean that was once bursting with excitement and mystery
is now only full of oil and plastic.
The clear, fresh air that created the breeze
is now just a cloud of smog and smoke.
The pandas and whales and elephants are disappearing,

A love letter to never be delivered.

PROMPT: Love in Words

Hey B.
I miss you.
I miss your sparkling eyes. They're the same color as those root beer barrel candies, did you know that? A deep brown normally, but like amber in the sunlight.
I miss your laugh. To me it sounds like song. It sounds like something special you're giving just to me.
I miss the way you lead our group. I miss how you play and joke around with Jon. I miss your dynamic with Porter.
I miss...

Waiting

PROMPT: Tiny Love Story

She sat there waiting to see his face again. There was no guarantee that he would love her back, but she was willing to make that risk. She was willing to get hurt, because that meant that she tried. She was willing to wait for months. She was willing to be alone because he was where he needed to be. And when he got back, she would be there with open arms.

There are eyes in the wall watching me from every angle. They seem to be laughing at everything that I do. Why are they watching my every move? Nothing is good enough for them. They laugh at the way that I walk and talk and stand and laugh, literally everything that exists within me. I look in the mirror and watch the tears of blood drip to the floor. The eyes slice into my skin like a razor, leaving clean...

My Drive

PROMPT: Strike

The issue that I cannot live with is children dying. Whether it be because a cop thought they were holding a gun, because they decided life wasn't worth living anymore, or because someone shot them while they were at school, I will NEVER tolerate the death of my peers. It is never going to be okay to tweet that your "thoughts and prayers" are headed their way when you will do nothing about it. It will never be acceptable to sit...

The Last Step

PROMPT: Walking

His sagging, slow, steps echoed through the empty alley. Anybody watching could tell that he was upset, but you wouldn't know his true intentions unless you paid close attention. His head hanging, as if he was ashamed, his feet shuffling along the pavement, without a reason to lift off the ground. He looked like a man that had just seen hell. Despite the walk, nobody knew that those would be his last steps.
