Over The Mountain

Working, I pause to gaze over the mountain, to
see if the world was as dark as it felt.
I saw the blue sky, I saw the white clouds, move,
restlessly. I saw the birds glide, I saw the hawks,
search. I saw the men work, I saw the children play,
and I saw myself looking for stillness. 
Then I saw it, before me always, unmoving and
unmoved, the mountain. It stands and it does
not rest, it stands showing me something more.
I see in it the greatness of it's Creator. 
And I have peace gazing not over the mountain,
but at it and beyond.
