A Rainy Day

Dear Diary,

I don't know how to say this because, well, it's indescribable. 
You had to be there, you see. 
It was... 
something else. 
For sure. 
It's still drifting euphorically through my mind.
Tells you how memorable life can be sometimes. 
Memorable enough to stay with you for days... 
probably more.

If I were to go back in time, and experience all of it again,
would I do something differently?
Would I change anything, or...

Today, i went to school. Yeah, surprising since the cases of COVID have only risen since we did online schooling. I'm just really happy that i get to finally see my friends and everybody. Everyday less cases are found. We will get through this. People are stressed because we hear on the news all the complaints of the day. The world will grow as we always do and we will be okay.

Look at the joy you find in things and focus on the fun. Your day is as dreary as you make it so look for the things that shine in your life. We will get through this.

My sibling celebrated her birthday, 
their last year as a youngster to be exact. 
While we forced to be seperated, 
our hearts were near. 

We spread the cheer
with videos and laughter. 
Cake and cookies,

We talked into the night, 
sharing light into the dark. 

I smile,

The last time I walked through school hallways, the lights were dim and there were not enough people to fill the space. The school gave us the opportunity to collect our possessions; we did not know when we would return. I met only a few people on the way to my locker: a teacher, a classmate, and an office staff member.

My locker creaked as I opened it; I had never noticed...

Water droplets twinkling
Catching her light as she shines down

Stormclouds brewing
Rain pitter-pattering on the roof, bring life to those below

A renewal, a rebirth of growth for the parched earth

The outside is unfamilar
Dreams and wishes
existing only on a pinboard, or a desktop background

Existing quietly

Today I went for a walk. I was alone, my sister having been out once already today, and so I was quiet. Sometimes on walks like these I take the time to hear my feet clap the pavement, to slow my breathing, to search for my edges and will myself into existence again.

Today instead of footsteps the cheerful chirps of goldfinches and competitive whistles of three or maybe four blackbirds were audible above the houses. There were no cars...

At 3:00 PM, on Tuesday, April 28th,
the Sun made a comeback that few
were anticipating, brightening

I have a lot of siblings, so my mom is always prepared for holidays before they come. For the past several weeks, there have been many precautions taken to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, including social distancing. This means everything involving getting together physically has been cancelled, including school, and many big events. Though I'm disappointed about some of these events, I've been happy to have a lot more time on my hands. I've been able to persue my passions, such as theoretical physics, pure mathematics, writing, and playing my instruments (especially piano)....

this is a small piece of news 
of a video call
between friends
having no greater purpose than
to laugh
together
at each other 
at the world
we laugh
still.

You could be writer of Fiction, create the worlds that dance in your mind,
the story could be short with less than three lines.

Or maybe write a Novella with 30 to 50 thousand words,
possibly a Novel that is about the birds!
