Message from Writer

I don't write 'cause I want to.
Believe me.
I write because I need to. I have no choice. Ink flows through my veins like blood flows through yours.
Pulsing beneath my skin are images and thoughts and words and ideas. Some terrible, some beautiful, but all of them pressing against my skin, straining to be free.
You see, sometimes, I have no choice but to bleed.

A Correspondence

GROUP: Flash Fiction

Mamma,
Don't hate me for leaving
I just couldn't stay anymore
I promise I'll write,
I love you
-K

Mamma,
I'm safe and warm, don't worry
Its so beautiful where I am
I swear to God I saw the stars dance the other night
I miss you
Love,
K

Mamma,
I'm somewhere out East
I'm not solo anymore
He's kind and thoughtful
Went to university believe it or not
(I think I might love him, mamma)
-K

Mamma,
Money's tight, but it always is
I sent some along with you though
Lord knows you'll have use for it
All my love,
K

Mamma,
Can you believe it's been three years?
I told you I thought I loved him, I do
Oh God I do
I wish he could meet you
-K

Mamma,
Sister Maria wrote
Said it was urgent I come home
I'll be there in four days time
I'm worried
Love,
K

Mamma,
I miss you already
Its only been a day
God, I wish there was more time
-K

Mamma,
We married last spring
It was beautiful
I wish you could've been there
-K

Mamma,
I came to visit
Brought daisies, your favorites
I promise I'll replace them next time
Send papa my love
-K

Mamma,
We have a daughter
Adeline is her daddy's laughter
But her mamma's fierce
But she's got your eyes
-K

Mamma,
These letters get more and more
sparse
Addie is four
A ball of lightning
I miss you, you know
Four years since you died
Feels like yesterday at times
Love,
K

Mamma,
This is my last letter
I can breathe without glass in my lungs
When I think about you
That's called healing, I think
I'll think of you always
xo,
K

That's beautiful! I love how the complete story is told through short letters. It's such a cool style to write in!
