Over the past year, I defeated a fear of other people, learned the value of clarity and brevity, fought writer's block, and developed pride in my words.

Now I am a writer with a love for onomatopoeias and an affinity for semicolons.

Message to Readers

I had to break out the thesaurus for this one.

Any feedback is greatly appreciated!

PROMPT: Missing “E”

GROUP: Flash Fiction

It. This story starts with an it. No tragic loss of a guardian, no vat of conspicuous toxic fluid. Just it.

And it was good.

It didn't know what it was. It didn't want to know what it was. It was happy to think, to touch, to stand on this world and play a part in it.

It was living.

Humans didn't fancy it. This brain of ours favors a philosophy that if you don't know what it is, you shouldn't want anything to do with it. So it was always out of turn.

But that's just how it was.
