Start at the end.
In fewer than 400 words, write a story in which you start at the end. After the final scene (your beginning), you may:
- Work your way backwards through time
- Flash to the start and move forwards
- Skip around
Susan Vreeland’s novel, Girl in Hyacinth Blue,
serves as an excellent example of reverse chronology. Vreeland traces a painting from the 20th century to the 17th century, portraying the painting’s mysterious power and the way it changes people’s lives through the centuries.
